LINUX MINT: One of the most beautiful, sleek, attractive, elegant and strong variants of Linux based Operating Systems.
Step One [1]:
Head over to https://linuxmint.com/download.php
and simply download the DVD Iso file, or torrent file. Its about 2GB large. Or preferably, you can download the torrent file version and download with bit torrent software.

Step Two [2]:
Extract the ISO file downloaded into a DVD Disk. Make your CD/DVD ROM a bootable from the BIOS, with the extracted ISO contents on disk, restart your computer with DVD/CD as first bootable device and wait until the Linux Mint Interface start the installation.
Step Three [3]:
Linux-Mint will load directly into a temporal desktop interface on initial boot or first load.
Step Four [4]:
Next, a Welcome Screen appears where you choose your Language..
Step Five [5]:
Next, is the screen that states the minimum system requirements such as:
a.8.6 GB HDD Space minimum (30GB Recommended )
b.Plugged into power
c.Connected to Internet (or disconnect for faster install, then later run “sudo apt install update”, from admin elevated terminal mode.
Step Six [6]:
In this stage, you have to ensure to select:
a.Erase disk partition to install a fresh copy of Linux Mint.
b.You have to also select to encrypt the Linux Mint Operating System for security purposes.
c.Use the Linux Volume Management to oversee the HDD partition targeted for the Linux-Mint Installation.
d.You can leave out the last option if the entire HDD drive is for the O/S.
Step Seven [7]:
Succeeding step 6 is the security key. Linux has a multilayer security measure to forestall hacking, or loose security breach that may compromise your files and sensitive information.
Therefore, please ensure you input a unique, alpha-numeric and character string as security key.
Step Eight [8]:
Next, select your location on earth with the dot animator. This is necessary for personalized System updates.
Step Nine [9]:
Next, select Keyboard layout, for ease of use.
Step Twelve [12]:
Finally, after the installation is complete, a system dialog prompt displays indicating:
1.Continue Testing
2.Restart Now
Select, “Restart Now”, to reload from the Testing Interface of the Operating System.
Step Thirteen [13]:
Next, as the system is being restarted, simply remove the DVD Disk used for installation and press the “enter”, key on your board.
Step Fourteen [14]:
Next, succeeding step 13, is the interface that requests for the security key created in step 7. Enter the key you created then, here.
Step Fifteen [15]:
Next, succeeding step 13, is the interface that requests for the security key created in step 10 meant for the primary user and administrator privileged user for “sudo”, system supervision access. Enter the key you created here.
Step Sixteen [16]:
On successful login from step 16, we are presented with the Linux Mint Welcome Interface..
Step Seventeen [17]:
Linux Mint, is featured with one of the most beautiful and attractive interface amongst the entire family of Linux based operating systems.
Step Eighteen [18]:
From the desktop, right click and select
“ Open in Terminal ”,
sub menu. This will open the Unix based system terminal.
Step Nineteen [19]:
From the terminal you can try the following commands:
1.sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list. This will display the source for where update commands such as,
- several file operating system.
2.“sudo apt-get update” or “sudo apt update”, commands will source update repositories from, for the Linux based, operating system kernel.
Note: Once you call or refer to “sudo”, requiring any system wide change in any Linux variant, the admin password will be required before proceeding.
Step Twenty [20]:
Check the Version of the Linux Mint by running any of these commands:
1.cat /etc/os-release
2.lsb_release –a
3.hostnamectl
