Computing Events in 2013 Reviewed

1. Spying and Security: The following were the major issues that characterized 2013 in this category.

 b.  Sniffing Online Services:

The same Agency’s set up what a giant software called PRISM that logs transactions of Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Apple, and Facebook.

c. Intelligence work on the Internet Moral fiber:

Tapping online service providers, the NSA practices core information collection by  fiber optic cables and other central Internet framework. It also crawls through the inbox  of e-mail and  text  communication as it flows across the U.S. of America. This activity may target foreigners, the data transmission of Americans are also spied into since some information are stored internationally.

d. Demoralizing the frequent Internet User: The NSA is also reported to be seriously engaged with cryptic battles using high tech computers and other powers it possesses to undermine instruments guarding the privacy of everyday contacts. It further logs products of major tech firms, arising products. Top of which is iphone and Google cookies.

2. Microsoft Win 8

Microsoft released its eighth (8th) windows in 2013. Some of its new features are:

a. Inclusion of more Printers on its platform.

b. USB 3 functionality

c. Efficient File copy utility program(with enhanced graph)

d. Start menu changes:  No longer do you click on an icon at the lower left of your computer to see installed programs. Rather, the windows button the keyboard does a lot of work an touch like effects on screen.

d. Java like drag and drop: There’s more j-query like feature on its new operating system.

3. Drop in PCs/Touch Screen (Haptics) taking over the Graphical User Interface (GUI like) Keyboards: previously on operating systems like Microsoft, you could use the on-screen keyboard to type ASCII characters that are not enabled on the physical keyboard. This was a sign of things to come. As today, there is the keyboard-less design pattern taking over the computer world.

This makes actual Personal Computers such as the Desktops and laptops gradually begin to pave way for the Handheld devices such as Tablets and Smartphones. Android Operating System leads in this terrain.
